OUR STORY
Why mental health?
Because I care.

YAM Tengku Puteri began actively advocating for mental health three years ago. Her friend Puteri Nor Ariane Yasmin has always supported and encouraged her to share her story, so that others who are sharing similar challenges know they are not alone. What started out as ad-hoc collaborations eventually led to the forming of the Green Ribbon Group with Puteri Nor Ariane Yasmin in January 2021.
The Green Ribbon Group is a platform that aims to empower stakeholders involved in raising mental health awareness through advocacy, fundraising and collaboration.
Drawing inspiration from the advice and example set by her father, KDYMM Seri Paduka Baginda Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, YAM Tengku Puteri is determined to effect real and lasting positive change within the mental health landscape of Malaysia.
In December 2021, YAM Tengku Puteri was appointed World Federation for Mental Health Representative to the United Nations in New York. YAM Tengku Puteri will be accredited to the UN Economic and Social Council. This follows YAM Tengku Puteri’s previous role as International Patron of World Mental Health Day 2020-2021 – a decision that was endorsed by the World Health Organization and other United Nations agencies.
Looking back, given YAM Tengku Puteri’s passion and dedication to the cause, the Green Ribbon Group was a long time coming. It is especially timely now, as the COVID-19 pandemic has shed light on the urgent need to ensure accessible mental healthcare for all.
